Shear Wall Construction

Heres the structural shear wall. We are widening the dormer upstairs to add room for a bathtub so that we will have three full baths. This was done to add strength to the outside load bearing wall. The two levels are tied together with hdu5 tie downs. They are epoxied into the basement foundation and attached with lag screws to double post studs on the middle level. This keeps the levels, in theory, from buckling.

Here is the threaded rods that go up to the Simpson hdu5 hold down.
