What is the Dartmoor Pony Stud Book?
A stud book was formed in 1924, when the first registry for the Dartmoor Pony was also developed. Although these ponies suffered during World War I and World War II, efforts were made by locals to ensure the breed’s survival.
Why join the Dartmoor Pony Society?
We welcome all new members. The primary role of the Society is to maintain the Stud Book which holds records tracing back the pedigrees of the registered Dartmoor Pony for over 100 years. The original records were held in the Polo Pony Stud Book, and then in the stud books of the National Pony Society.
