What is learning to ride?
Learning to ride is a journey and the journey only stops when you do. Even the best riders in the world continue their riding education until the day that they give up horses. It’s an ongoing project.
How do I get used to jumping on a horse?
It takes practice to get used to the rhythm of a horse that is going to jump. Be prepared to do lots of drills with your instructor and perhaps learn to go over small jumps without using your stirrups to help you balance. Here are two helpful videos showing how to jump on a horse:
How to teach a beginner to ride a horse?
Heels down is one of the most important things for you to accomplish at the beginning. Ask your instructor to have you do the standing and balancing exercise at a stand still and at a walk. Keep a bend in your knee and don’t lean on the horse. Find your balance.

Why don’t horses jump over obstacles?
