It is not legal in the USA to have a hawk as a pet. All birds of prey are protected by the federal government (USFWS). You could become a licensed falconer, for which you have to receive training first. I’m not sure where falconers’ birds come from, maybe licensed breeders, but if they are taken from nests in the wild, this too requires a permit.
