There is very little air movement in a ceiling space, as any poor sucker who ends up in one can tell you. I’ve been up in them quite a few times building or renovating houses. In our current iron roof home, without whirlybirds, even meadiocre days it was dammed hot up there. Now, with two birds, (we have the ones with the fan blade addition) I can work up there in much more comfort. Even on windless days, they spin due to the warm air rising up out of the roofspace.
