DIY Seattle began having classes and get-togethers to build things with our hands. The idea is to get children, and adults as well, to build things with their hands using low-tech instead of buying high-tech stuff. It's a lot of fun and kids especially get a sense of satisfaction from being able to use or display something that they made themselves. It is a practical hands on class.

We have had several different types of classes before. We built birdhouses, we build birdfeeders, and several other things. We even built kusamono plants more commonly known as mudball plantings.

I think the next backyard zombie class will be making snowshoes using conduit. Should zombie apocalypse come during a snowstorm perhaps knowing how to make snowshoes would come in handy. I've seen this particular design a couple times before and I have seen them built. They seemed rather sturdy.

Anyone have any other ideas for a zombie class for kids to make low-tech things with their hands?

  1. I read some folks hatched Trader Jo’s Fertile eggs!
I saw some fertile brown chicken eggs at Uwajimaya yesterday for $4.99/dz.
    Very tempted.
All of my last batch of Costco’s Organic eggs were also fertile.
Some of the Egglands Best also that way. Hmmmm
Maybe it is a Spring thing??? Fertile eggs everywhere except for in my duck’s nest.
She went broody over 2 blue easter eggs…hahaha
But that would be an inexpensive way to hatch some eggs.
